Window Box Red – Compact bush tomato for pots and windowsills
What sets Window Box Red apart
Window Box Red is a decorative mini bush tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) that suits growing in a pot, on a windowsill or on a balcony. These tomato seeds make it easy to grow tomatoes at home even if space is limited.
Background and name
As the name suggests, the variety was bred to grow straight in window boxes or small pots – without support or pinching out.
Appearance and growth habit
A bush (determinate) tomato that should not have its side shoots pinched out. The plant stays compact, about 20–30 cm tall, and bears small red tomatoes.
Flavour and uses of Window Box Red
Fresh, balanced flavour – excellent in sandwiches, lunch salads or as a colourful decoration.
Ripening time, resistance and storage
Ripens after about 55–60 days. Good resistance to cold and suitable for early planting out. Short shelf life – best eaten straight away.
Pollination tips
Place in a sunny position – vibrations from the wind are often enough. Feel free to help with a brush when growing indoors.
