Cucamelon is a cucumber-like vegetable with Mexican roots. It gives plenty of striped 3 cm fruits, suitable for salads, pickling and stir-fries. Has a climbing habit and needs tying in. Pinch out the tip at 1.5-2 m. Remove side shoots after 2-3 leaves. Nutrient-rich soil in a sheltered, warm position or greenhouse. Plant by all means directly in a bucket. Water generously and feed occasionally. Harvested from mid-July to September.
