Naga King Black – an intense scorcher with a dark twist
What makes Naga King Black special
Naga King Black is an exclusive and powerful chilli with the same extreme heat as the original Naga King – but with a darker colouring that makes it even more impressive. It offers an intense flavour experience and has an almost threatening look.
Background and name
This is a natural further development of Naga King with an unusually dark colour that ripens from deep brown to almost black-red. The variety was developed to unite heat, aesthetics and strength. The name ‘Black’ refers to its unusual ripening colours.
Appearance and growth habit
The plants reach 100–140 cm and produce long, bumpy and sometimes twisted pods. They ripen from green to a dark brown or almost black shade and really do look dangerous.
Estimated Scoville heat
Approx. 900,000 – 1,200,000 SHU
Flavour and uses
Fruity, earthy and floral with an immediate heat that builds quickly. Excellent for very strong sauces, chutneys, or dried and ground into a really nasty powder.

How to grow Naga King Black
Naga King Black belongs to Capsicum chinense. Sow your chilli seeds between January and March. It needs a long growing season, warmth and plenty of light to reach its full potential. Best grown in a greenhouse or a really warm, sheltered spot.
The price is for 6 chilli seeds
Sow in moist seed compost and keep warm, at about 25–30°C for best germination The compost should be moist but not wet. A propagator helps to keep the air humid. Once the seedlings have grown a little and developed their second pair of leaves, you can lower the temperature to about 20°C and take them out of the propagator. They do well on a sunny windowsill, in a greenhouse and outdoors in summer. For best results, soak the seeds in Growhelper for 12–24 hours before sowing.
