What is Thai Red Demon?
Thai Red Demon chilli seeds grow into a hot, classic Thai chilli with an upright habit and intense heat. It is popular in South-East Asian cooking, where both flavour and looks matter, and it is a real powerhouse in the garden.
Background and name
The variety is an improved version of traditional Thai chillies and is grown for its heat as well as its ornamental value. The name ‘Red Demon’ refers both to the colour and to its wickedly hot character.
Appearance and growth habit
The plant reaches 50–70 cm and carries masses of slim pods, 4–6 cm long, that ripen from green to a deep red. The pods point upwards and grow in clusters, which makes the plant very decorative.

Sow in moist seed compost and keep warm, at about 25–30°C for the best germination. The compost should be moist but not wet. A propagator helps to keep the air humid. Once the seedlings have grown a little and have their second pair of leaves, you can lower the temperature to about 20°C and move them out of the propagator. They do well on a sunny windowsill, in a greenhouse and outdoors in summer. For best results, soak the seeds in Growhelper for 12–24 hours before sowing.
