Coriander is the herb that gives dishes an Asian character, and it is said to be the most widely used leaf herb in the world. The leaves, root and seeds are all used. Sow coriander in batches from spring to autumn for a continuous leaf harvest.
PLANT, POSITION & SOIL:
Plant type: Annual leaf and seed herb, half a metre tall. Harvest the leaves at 15 cm.
Swedish climate zones: 1–6.
Seeds can also be left to ripen, giving a crop over several rounds.
Position: Sunny, warm and sheltered. Do not grow near fennel.
Soil: Grows in most soils, but does best in light, humus-rich, moisture-retentive soil. Growing on raised ridges works well. Prepare the soil thoroughly before sowing.
