Mascot – a mini bush with big flavour in a compact format
What makes Mascot special
Mascot is a low-growing bush tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) that suits a balcony, hanging basket or pot perfectly. It produces masses of flavourful small tomatoes – an ideal variety to grow tomatoes at home on a small scale.
Background and name
Mascot is a modern French dwarf bush variety developed for urban growing. It is particularly suited to pots and small spaces.
Appearance and growth habit
A bush tomato (determinate) that reaches about 30–40 cm. Does not need side shoots removed. Gives plenty of small, round, deep red tomatoes of 15–20 grams.
Flavour and uses of Mascot
A sweet, aromatic flavour reminiscent of larger tomato varieties. Perfect as a snack, in salads or as edible decoration.
Ripening time, resistance and storage
Early ripening – approx. 55–60 days. Robust and tolerant of changeable weather. Best eaten fresh, but keeps for up to a week.
Pollination tips
Shake the plant lightly to encourage fruit set.
How to grow Mascot
Sow in March–April. Plant in a pot or hanging basket. Does not need side-shoot removal. Ripens after approx. 55–60 days.
The price is for 10 tomato seeds
