Pokusa – a Polish cherry tomato with masses of flavour
What makes Pokusa special
Pokusa is a flavourful cherry tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) from Poland that gives generous harvests of small, glossy red fruits. A fast-growing variety that is easy to succeed with, even for beginners who want to grow tomatoes from seed at home.
Background and name
‘Pokusa’ means ‘temptation’ in Polish – a name that fits perfectly, as the fruits are so good they rarely make it to the kitchen.
Appearance and growth habit
A tall-growing (indeterminate) variety that needs its side shoots removed. Grows quickly and gives long trusses of tomatoes 2–3 cm across.
Flavour and uses of Pokusa
Sweet and intense flavour. Excellent as a snack, in salads or as a freshly picked garnish.
Ripening time, resistance and storage
Ripens early – approx. 60–65 days. Tolerates cooler climates and has good resistance to splitting.
Pollination tips
Shake the plant lightly during flowering for better fruit set.
How to grow Pokusa
Sow in March. Plant in a greenhouse or warm outdoor spot. Remove side shoots regularly. Ripens approx. 60 days after planting out.
The price is for 10 tomato seeds
