Fidalgo Roxa x Grao de Bode – a Brazilian beauty in purple and red
What makes Fidalgo Roxa x Grao de Bode special
Fidalgo Roxa x Grao de Bode is a Brazilian cross that combines the best of two worlds: decorative purple colour and fantastic aroma. This chilli is as beautiful as it is tasty – and hot enough to impress.
Background and name
This is a stabilised cross between two Brazilian favourites: Fidalgo Roxa, known for its purple colour, and Grao de Bode, a traditional hot chilli from the Bahia region. The result is a new variety with looks, flavour and sting.
Appearance and growth habit
The plant is low to medium-tall, about 60–80 cm, with a very bushy habit. The pods are small, round or slightly drop-shaped and ripen from violet to dark red. Very pretty in a pot or balcony box.

Flavour and uses
Strong but fruity flavour with a light blackcurrant tone. The pods are juicy and aromatic, which makes them very useful in hot sauce, pickles or as whole dried pods in stews.
