Perennial wall-rocket, also called wild rocket, has a powerful, peppery flavour. It is used in salads and as an ingredient in various dishes. Grow it outdoors or in a pot. It can be grown indoors all year round, when the leaves take on a milder flavour. Repeat sowing gives you fresh leaves over a long period. Take a break in high summer, when the plants bolt more easily. Harvest when the leaves are about 7 cm long. Does best in humus-rich, moisture-retentive, well-drained soil. Water regularly. Covering with horticultural fleece helps keep pests away.
