Jalapeño Poppers

Jalapeño Poppers

Jalapeño poppers are a great side dish for the barbecue.
Filled with lovely cheese and wrapped in bacon

A jalapeño rack comes in handy here.

Mine is from Grillhouse.se

If you don’t have one, you can simply cut them in half, fill them with cheese and wrap bacon around them.

As you know, there are quite a few ripe pods on my chilli plants now, so you have to make the best use of them.
I could happily eat these just as they are for dinner, they are so good.

In this case I also used snack peppers with the same filling, because the kids don’t like it hot.

You will need:

  • Jalapeños
  • Cream cheese (such as Philadelphia)
  • Grated cheddar.
  • Bacon
  • Cocktail sticks

How to make them:

Cut the top off the jalapeño and keep it

Remove the seeds so there is plenty of room (keep the seeds if you want to grow your own)

Mix the cream cheese and the cheddar.

Put it in a freezer bag and snip off a small corner.

Pipe the filling into the jalapeño.

Press the cap back on using the filling.

Wrap bacon around it and secure with a cocktail stick.

Grill over high indirect heat until the bacon is nicely crisp.

Serve as a side, a starter or a snack.
